Mezuzahs should be checked by a sofer (certified scribe) twice every seven years to see if they have been affected by adverse weather conditions, or by folding (which can cause cracks in the letters), or if any other defect has occurred. It is preferable to check mezuzahs which are on the outside of a building more often, due to their vulnerability from inclement weather.
Breslov’s Rabbi Goldberg is a certified Torah sofer with decades of experience inspecting mezuzahs for deterioration in parchment lettering that can nullify a mezuzah’s halachic value. He can also check authenticity as unfortunately some mezuzot are flawed from their outset.
The mezuzah does not necessarily have to be replaced if found flawed during an inspection. Rather, a skilled scribe such as Rabbi Goldberg can in some cases replace letters using a kosher feather and ink.
Wording in a mezuzah is standard, but a personalized impact (klaf) can be directed by a scribe such as Rabbi Goldberg when asked. In writing the mezuza he can have in mind a special need for you such as the desire for a spouse, parnasa (livelihood), or better health.
